Accidents happen in many different ways. Our Personal Injury Solicitors handle compensation claims for a wide variety of accidents and have many years’ experience in dealing with the following types of claims:

  • Road Traffic Accidents
  • Accidents at Work
  • Industrial Injury/Disease (Asbestos, Hearing Loss)
  • Fatal Accidents
  • Holiday Injuries
  • Slipping and Tripping Claims
  • Accidents in Public Places
  • Accidents Involving Children
  • Faulty Product Claims
  • Food Poisoning Compensation
  • Sexual and Physical Abuse Claims
  • Sports Injuries
  • Claims against The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (for innocent victims of crime)

If you are successful in establishing liability against the other party for your injuries, the compensation you will receive (known as “Damages”) will be for 2 parts:

  1. General Damages: This is a sum awarded to compensate for the “pain, suffering and loss of amenity” you have suffered due to your injuries. The level of compensation depends upon the nature of the injury and the time it will take you to recover from your injuries; and
  2. Special Damages: This is a sum for the loss or expenses arising as a result of the accident, for example:
  • Past loss of earnings
  • Future loss of earnings
  • Travel expenses
  • Care and assistance provided by family/friends
  • Medical treatment
  • Damage to personal items

In addition to the pain and suffering that an injured person has to experience, it can be a very difficult and vulnerable period, during which time DSD will strive to help with all the problems that may arise which someone suffers an injury. These may include obtaining appropriate rehabilitation, assistance with financial matters and many more related issues.

Once liability for the accident has been established against the other party, our specialists will do everything they can to help you and your family through this difficult time. For example: if you are placed in financial difficulties as a result of the accident (i.e. you have no income because you cannot work) we will seek an interim payment of compensation from the other party to assist you at this difficult time.

If you need rehabilitation and the NHS waiting lists are too long, we will seek the cost of this treatment from the other party so that you can be pay for private medical care.

In suitable cases we will agree to represent you in your claim on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis.
