Recent Cases
Family Law
Reported case of Re B (Child Evidence) 2014 EWCA Civ 1015: Andrew successfully acted for the mother who sought to produce evidence from a child, aged 13, who had witnessed the father’s domestic violence against the mother. The Circuit Judge directed that CAFCASS interview the child to determine whether it was appropriate for her to give evidence at a trial. The father appealed citing that it would be inappropriate for the child to give evidence. The Court of Appeal rejected his appeal.
In 2014, Andrew represented a mother who was subjected to serious violence by the father which was witnessed by the children. The family was from India and the mother was at risk of being the victim of an honor killing by the father. Andrew successfully obtained an Injunction against the father preventing him from subjecting the family to any further harm.
 Debt:
Andrew acted for a lady who was facing the possibility of her home being reclaimed by a finance company. At trial, the court dismissed the company’s claim for a Possession Order and ordered that the debt be written off because the financial agreement the lady signed did not comply with the Consumer Credit Act 1974. The Company appealed to the Court of Appeal where Andrew represented the client. The Court dismissed the Appeal.
